Transcripts and email draft: Here are my interview transcripts and my email draft. I interviewed my mother and my father because my extended family is a little hard to reach. I asked my parents the same questions, such as where were you born, what was your favorite family vacation, and if they were involved in any sports/activities when they were younger. I emailed my Aunt Mary Margaret to see if she would send me any pictures or information of my grandfather because he passed away before I was born.

Family Tree: This is my family tree of my entire extended family. My entire family lives in Texas so I only get to see them over the holidays. Making this family tree on echo made me realize just how big my family actually is.

In this article, a teacher explains what school is really about. To him, academics is not what school is all about, it is about pushing through obstacles and staying on track of what is really important. I agree with this article 100% and I think many teachers need to read this article as well. The "main event" is to overcome difficulties when life gets hard. Many students (including myself) tend to quit when school gets hard. I very well know the feeling of walking into school and already deciding not to try to get anything done because I have "more important" things going on in my life. I have learned a lot from my four years at Blue Valley High School, and not one of those things is due to the curriculum. I have learned that not doing anything in school because I just don't feel like it will not get me anywhere. Being rude to my teachers because I do not do anything in their class will not get me a better grade. I have learned that my actions have consequences and if the amount of effort I put in will affect how successful I am in the future.

Tell me all about your weekend and please share photos!

I spent this weekend with my boyfriend because he came home for Easter. We just hung out with some friends and he took me to lunch at Noodles and Company. On Saturday we took my dog, Rocky, to the dog park; he had so much fun! I stayed home Saturday night to catch up on some school work because I missed a lot of school last week. I had to work at Sunset Grill on Easter morning. It was pretty crowded but work was not as bad as I thought it would be. I got home around 2:00 pm and headed over to Planet Fitness for a quick work out. When I got home from the gym my mom had dinner ready and I spent the rest of my evening with my family.

What do you love most about this time of year? Explain why you love it.

I am so happy winter is finally over! I love when it starts to get warm and the trees start to bud. Birds are chirping and the sun is shining brighter! The trees that bud do kind of smell like cat pee which is unfortunate. I love wearing shopping for summer clothes and bringing all of my shorts out from the back of my closet. My mom likes to buy flowers to go in the flower pots on our deck and I think they look beautiful. I also love to take my dog, Rocky, to the dog park when it warms up. The only downside to warm weather is the dress code at school. I have no problem following the code, I like to stay comfy in school, but I know a lot of my friends get unwanted  comments from our teachers. I understand that we need to wear appropriate clothes but no one should be distracted because you can see shoulders.

Did you complete the photo scavenger hunt? What kind of fun pictures were you able to capture? Did you do all your photos at school or did you do some at home over the weekend? Share one of your favorites.

I finished my photo scavenger hunt last Friday. I got all of my photos in the halls of Blue Valley. I got some pretty good photos of daily scenes of school. The list was relatively easy so it was not very hard to complete in school. I have a few pictures of various posters hung up in the hallways, signs, and students.

What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

I do not have that much background with photography. I really don't take many photos, other than the occasional pic with my friends at a party. Sometimes I take selfies with my friends or I have someone else snap a pic of me. If I am posting pictures on instagram I will most likely put a filter on it. Instagram filters are pretty rad and they increase your number of likes for sure. I've taken a lot of art classes throughout my time here at Blue Valley High School, at least one every semester, and I have taken photography. It was a cool class but it wasn't really my thing. It can be pretty challenging to develop pictures from film exactly the way you want to and it is time consuming to take your pictures everyday after school. I like taking pictures but I wouldn't say I do it as often as other girls do. I just don't really have much of an interest in photography and I don't think about taking a quick picture when I could.

Welcome back! Go ahead. Tell me all about your Spring Break. Include photos!

I spent my spring break in Kansas this year. I couldn't go to Mexico with the rest of my friends because my parents wouldn't let me. I mostly just worked at Sunset Grill and I made a lot of money. I spent my first weekend on break with my boyfriend who I had not seen in awhile. I turned 18 on my first day of break and I celebrated with my family at the Cheesecake Factory. The most exciting thing I did over break was getting my first tattoo. I got a diamond on the side of my ribs because I believe that our past shapes us into who we are today and I could not be any happier with who I have become.

Tell me about your weekend.

Unfortunately I was sick all weekend so I didn't do much. I had to work Saturday and Sunday at Sunset Grill. When I wasn't at work I watched a lot of Friends on Netflix and my mom brought me Panera a couple of times. I missed 3 days of school last week so I will have a lot of make up work to catch up on.

Tell me what you believe this cartoon is trying to say. Do you agree or disagree with this idea? Try and look at this from two different perspectives. What is your perspective? What would be an adult/teacher's perspective?

I think this cartoon is saying that students in the United States do not spend nearly as much time studying as other students in other countries.I think this cartoon may be true for some students, but a lot of students work very hard to get into college or are just satisfied with themselves when they make good grades. Students in the United States do have more down time than other students from various countries, but that does not mean all students in the Unite States do nothing all day. A major stereotype of Chinese students is that studying is their life, which may or may not be true, but another stereotype is that students of the United States are lazy. A teacher here at Blue Valley High School might actually agree with this considering we all like to listen to music during school and talk to our friends constantly, but they also could be forgetting the fact that we are one of the best districts in the state of Kansas.

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work? I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

I think that this image means put all of your effort into one thing, rather than doing not so great work on a group of things. This mostly applies to my school life. I tend to get over whelmed with my school work because I put it off until the last minute, when in reality I should do my best work in a reasonable amount of time. Outside of school I am a very organized person and I really don't have very much to do during the school year, school is supposed to be my only job. I think this class would be more beneficial if we had a little less work load to do in class, some days I feel rushed to wrap something up before the bell rings. I think I would comprehend what exactly it is that we are supposed to be learning that day if we did not have such large work loads to do. I also noticed that we only have 3 assignments graded in the grade book, so what is the point in doing all this other work if it is not what is actually being graded?

Tell me all about your weekend! I sure hope you have photos to share.

Friday after school I drove to Manhattan to visit my boyfriend. We made pizza and watched Pitch Perfect. Then I drove home on Saturday and went to the gym. Recently I have been going to the gym more often to get ready for spring break and prom. My friend Kendra had a little get together Saturday night which was very fun. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures to share. Sunday was very relaxed, I went to Jimmy John's to visit my friend Kaelen at work. Then I watched That 70's Show on Netflix for a few hours and worked on some school work. To wrap up my night I went to the gym and got a good work out in.

You haven't had a chance to tell me about your Sweetheart weekend yet - tell me about it now! Include photos if you have them. Even if you just laid around on the couch and watched Netflix, tell me all about it.

Unfortunately I did not go to the dance, but I did go to the after party. The after party was a pretty good time and it was at my good friend Jennifer's house. This after party was especially memorable because it was Mexico themed! Friday night I drove up to Manhattan to see some friends and I went out to eat at Fuzzy's and just chilled with some Netflix.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"? EXPLAIN.

Email is mail sent through the web. Personally, I do not email very often. Sometimes I email my teachers to make plans to make up work or for extra help. I check my email when I order clothes to see if they are being shipped. I think adults and college students use email more often than teenagers. In the business world, emails are used for making appointments and sharing information. I do not know very much about email etiquette and how an email should be formatted, I usually just type whatever I have to say and then send it.

Finish this sentence "10 years from now I will be...."

10 years from now I will be living in Arizona. Hopefully I will be married and have a successful career. I would like to be either a physician's assistant or a nurse practitioner. I plan on staying young and healthy, so I'll be at the gym during the day and hittin' the town at night. I will thoroughly enjoy my twenties while I can, so I have to keep appearances up. I also plan on having at least two large dogs, like a Great Dane or a German Shepard. I hope to be living somewhere warm and sunny because I hate the cold. I think I will still be living in an apartment when I am 28, I will probably still have some bills to pay off from nursing school. If I do not have a boyfriend or not married by then I plan on having roommates because I do not like to live alone.

Yesterday I had you choose a global issue and you wrote about it on your blog. Today on your blog I want you to tell me about two different perspectives of your global issue. Are there people for an against your issue? Do people disagree on your issue? Is it a topic that can cause controversy? Look at the issue for two different perspectives. Tell me about those perspectives.

Stem Cell Research is a very controversial subject. Many people think it goes against religious views, considering the cells come from embryos. On the other hand, stem cells can do amazing things for human injuries and cancer patients. Stem Cell Research is still a relatively new medical topic and new advances appear often. I would say most people are against stem cell research because religion plays a huge role in many people's daily lives.

Stem Cell Research

Without doing any research, what background do you currently have on this issue?
What do you want to know about this issue?
Why did you choose this issue? Had it effected your life? Is it something you are passionate about? Explain.

I know that Stem Cell Research is a very controversial subject all over the world. I also know that stem cells are taken from fetal tissue. I am interested to know how they get these cells and who allows this to happen. I would also like to know the benefits of stem cell research, who opposes it and why, where these studies are taken place, and who is qualified to do this research. I chose this issue because I am very interested in medicine and I want to have a career in the medical field. I do not know very much about this subject, that is why I chose to do it so I can be more aware of it. I am passionate about medicine and human rights.

Last week I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

I think the point of this assignment was to learn how to be creative with a presentation. We already know how to make a normal powerpoint presentation, and this time we learned how to make a presentation without bullet points and headers. I think our PSA project helped me learn how to make a presentation that viewers will actually enjoy watching. I learned how to get my viewers attention by appealing to their emotions with various images. The no click transitions make my presentation flow nicely as well.

Kids these days, can't go anywhere without their phones! All they do is listen to hip hop and tweet nonsense. They all have nice cars and don't even take their education seriously these days. And talking back to their parents, that is ridiculous. Breaking curfew and eating all that Chipotle, and the amount of obesity and teen pregnancy blows my mind.

What is a public service announcement (PSA)? What do PSA's do? What makes a good PSA? How can you get someone to take action after watching a PSA? What is you PSA idea? Explain in detail.

Public service announcements are used to get the attention of a large group of people. They are typically images or videos, and I have noticed they usually appeal to a person's emotions. A good PSA will be appealing to look at in order to get the attention of others and make a point that is easy to understand. To get someone to fully acknowledge your PSA and follow through with your intentions, you need to try and go after their subconscious thought process. The best way to do this is to try to evoke emotion through the image. My idea is to try to stop the public (mainly teenagers/young adults) from texting and driving. From my own experience I know how distracting texting and driving is and it can cause dangerous results.

Tell me all about your 3 day weekend. Share photos!

I spent most of my 3 day weekend in Manhattan, Kansas. I had a really good time up there, my boyfriend showed me around campus and we went out to eat in Aggieville a lot. It was really nice on Sunday so we took his dog to the dog park and went on a run. Every time I go to K-State I get even more excited to spend my next 4 years there! Unfortunately we had to put my dog, Falcon, down on Monday. I had Falcon for almost 13 years so it's been pretty hard without him.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

I am a senior at Blue Valley High School. This year I am not involved in any activities, but I played volleyball my freshman year. Last semester I really enjoyed my ceramics 2 class. I wasn't very good at ceramics the first time I took it but last semester I greatly improved. I also really like my physics class because Mrs. Toneva is the best teacher I have ever had. She makes the class really fun and interesting, otherwise I probably wouldn't have a good grade in that class. I am really looking forward to spring break because I am going to Florida with my best friends. After spring break I am most excited for graduation and starting my life at college.

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

So far this class has already been pretty helpful for me. I had no idea how to start a blog and in just a week i made my own. Creating this blog has been helpful because my contemp teacher, Mr. Pittman, has recently told me that we will need to make a blog for his class this semester. I think as long as I stay caught up in the class it won't be difficult, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is easy. It is very easy to access any classroom information and I think we get very detailed instructions to help us everyday. I like this class because we can work at our own pace and if we do not finish our work in class, it is very accessible at home.

Tell me about your weekend. What did you do? Upload a photo to your Google Drive and then insert the photo (or photos!) to your blog post to show me what all you did.

I had a pretty relaxed weekend. My boyfriend, Morgan, came home from K-State so I spent most of my time hanging out with him. We didn't really do much, we watched a lot of movies and he made me dinner. Morgan plays the bass so I watched him do that a lot too. I am teaching myself how to play the ukulele so I worked on that.

Thursday, January 8th

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I agree with the fact that it is up to you to earn your own living. It is good to be dependent on yourself, not on others. But your teenage years should also be spent having fun and gaining experience. This article makes me feel as if adults expect every teenager to be robotic. Teenagers need down time and socialization to figure out who they really are; which cannot be done washing windows and mowing the lawn. I agree with the fact that at a certain age you need to develop a backbone and try your hardest to get where you want to be. It is important for teenagers to do what they can to reach their full potential.
